Robert Gibson, managing partner of Samuel Phillips Law Firm, one of Newcastle's leading practices, has been honoured by his peers in Newcastle by being elected President of the local Law Society.
Robert was inaugurated at the branch AGM held this week at the Northern Counties Club. The meeting attended by leading lawyers from the region saw the outgoing President hand over to a representative of Samuel Phillips for the 3rd time.
In 1978 Arthur Taylor became president followed in 2000 by Barry Speker OBE.
Robert commented on his new role, “I am honoured to be granted the opportunity to hold this office for 12 months, especially as it is one voted for by my peers. Amjed has proved to be an outstanding President and we thank him for his contribution.
Looking ahead we all face very big challenges in the legal sector and we can be sure that our working lives will be somewhat different. I hope that in the next 12 months we can help the profession move forward with confidence and embrace the changes that face us.
