Paralegal Residential Property – Plot Sales

The role…

We have a thriving and busy Plot Sales team which has an excellent reputation for customer service in the marketplace. As one of the main conveyancers for a national housebuilder, we have high volumes of plot sales and as such, we’ve an exciting opportunity for an experienced Paralegal to join our vibrant team.

  • On a day to day basis you will assist the fee earners in the team to work on numerous aspects of the plot sales transactions;
  • You will liaise with customers and site offices on a daily basis to provide updates and support during their property transaction;
  • You will provide excellent customer service at all times to both the client and the developers;
  • You will assist with part exchanges and the buying and selling of part exchanges and any related sale transaction;
  • You may from time to time, support the fee earners involved in private residential property matters.

The ideal candidate….

  • You must have a law degree (at least 2:1);
  • It is essential that you have at least 12 months experience ideally within another plot sales department or working with House Builders;
  • It is imperative that you are able to work well within a fast paced environment efficiently and effectively;
  • You must excel at providing a high standard of customer care and service. You should feel comfortable and confident managing demanding clients, regularly updating clients and working to various deadlines;
  • You must have experience in dealing with help to buy mortgages;
  • You must have experience in dealing with strict exchange deadlines;
  • You must have experience in dealing with high volume completions.

Commercial Law/Commercial Litigation Solicitor  (0-3 PQE)

Samuel Phillips Law (SPL) is a well-established law firm based on the prestigious Grey Street in Newcastle.  Far from a high street firm, SPL is a progressive and ambitious firm, striving to be ‘best in class’!

The firm is a five partner firm employing 34 members of staff has a broad value proposition with services across a number of specialist areas, including; Family Law, Commercial and Civil Litigation, Commercial and Residential Property, Employment and Wills, Probates & Trusts.

SPL are looking to recruit a solicitor with both commercial law and commercial litigation experience who is looking for a new, progressive and vibrant environment.  The recruit would be presented with an opportunity to further grow the commercial element of the Litigation Department with full support from the Head of Litigation and the CEO (commercial and non-lawyer) to market, promote and complement the recruit to maximise success.

The firm has recently launched a new confident brand and website, is implementing a number of digital services in late 2019, has a particularly strong client base amongst high net worth individuals and can offer fantastic work with some great clients. It can also offer extremely stylish and well-thought-out office space within which to work. Despite its long history, this is certainly not a traditional law firm!  You will be working with a very well-established partner but there is no glass ceiling – so, for those who seek it, there are opportunities for real progression.

The firm is looking for a solicitor who is confident in his or her own skin, forges strong relationships with the business community, is agile, has a confident personal brand and can bring genuine enthusiasm to work.

The ideal candidate will match the following attributes and criteria;

  • Fully qualified solicitor (between 0 – 3 years PQE).
  • A sound technical knowledge of at least two of the following areas:
    • Contract disputes;
    • Professional Negligence;
    • Shareholder Disputes;
    • Property Litigation;
    • Debt Recovery.
  • Knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules.
  • Advocacy experience and a willingness to undertake your own advocacy.
  • Excellent client care skills both on an interpersonal level and in being able to explain complex legal issues in an appropriate manner.
  • Ability to manage a heavy case load, bill and time record independently and generate new work from prospective and existing clients.
  • Commercial Awareness and experience of working for companies is desirable but not essential.
  • Business development and networking experience.
  • A sound technical knowledge of at least two of the following areas:
    • Drafting contracts including supply of goods, supply of services and bespoke contracts;
    • Drafting Shareholder Agreements and Partnership Agreements;
    • Providing advice to Directors and Shareholders in accordance with the Companies Act 2006 and other associated legislation; and,
    • Mergers & Acquisitions.

The office is open plan so the ability to work together and share ideas is paramount.
