Helen completed her law degree and Legal Practice Course at the University of Northumbria at Newcastle, graduating in 2004. She was actively involved in the mooting society at University and won the East of England championships with a colleague and came second in her year’s mooting competitions internally. After graduating, she then joined a leading national law firm based on Newcastle’s Quayside before completing her training in 2007 with a niche high street firm in Washington, Tyne and Wear.
After completing her training, Helen returned to Newcastle and has practiced in litigation since then. In her previous role she has lead a large team of litigators in a multi million pound turnover firm in a supervisory capacity, progressing to Associate before making the decision to move on and embrace a new role. She thrives on pressure and welcomes the new challenges which Samuel Phillips are to throw at her!
Helen is a Mackem having being born and bred in Sunderland however admits to not following the football results. She is a keen thespian and a member of various amateur musical theatre groups in the County Durham and Sunderland area. She takes part both on and off stage having trained as a ballet and tap dancer from being very young, she also sings, acts on stage and has recently decided to branch out into stage management and directing musical theatre performances for various groups in the region. Helen has also served on the committee for two theatre companies in her area.
She has two springer spaniels and enjoys long walks and gin sampling!
