James has a broad range of experience in relation to commercial property matters, including the sale and acquisition of freehold and leasehold property, site assembly and development, acting on behalf of landlords and tenants, property finance matters and dealing with the property law aspects of corporate and insolvency deals.

Although originally from the County Durham, James grew up in London, where he undertook his training.

Having originally qualified as a litigator, James returned to the North East, where he developed his interest in real estate by obtaining a Master’s degree in advanced commercial property from Northumbria University in 2006.

James has particular expertise in landlord and tenant work, development agreements and acting for clients in the management, acquisition and disposal of property portfolios. In every case, James seeks to develop a strong working relationship with his clients by offering clear, pragmatic advice, communicating with them in plain English and offering creative solutions.

Outside of work, James is married to a teacher with whom he has two children. In whatever remains of his free time, James keeps fit by running, cycling and attending his local gym.
