Jennifer is an adopted Geordie having grown up in Suffolk. Her mother came from Newcastle. There is a photograph of Jennifer at 9yrs old on Tynemouth wearing a home knitted itchy jumper which was produced by another Lawyer who had married the girl he used to spend hours roller skating with in Gosforth. Jennifer came up to study and stayed, qualifying as a lawyer in 1989 and beginning work in a generalist role, with experience across all areas of law. From 1999 onwards Jennifer has centered her practice on family and litigation. In 2011 she became the first, and indeed only, Solicitor accredited Family Law Arbitrator in the North East. Jennifer also has specialist accreditation in advanced financial provision, childrens law and has been an accredited member of the Law Societys childrens panel since 1994. In 2013 Jennifer trained as a mediator, and can offer mediation in all areas of dispute from Family to work based issues
Jennifer has particular expertise in high value divorce cases, often involving commercial issue or pensions. In addition to this work, she has acted on behalf of CAFCASS in care work proceedings, coordinating medical evidence for fact finding hearings, holding medical expert meetings, re-examining medical practitioners, and presenting evidence to court. She is the North East representative of Reunite, a charity which deals with international child abduction. She was involved in the first international abduction case in Turkey, and has also successfully retrieved children from Bangladesh
Jennifers clients have a wide range of backgrounds. On a commercial level, she has represented large organizations such as CAFCASS, local authorities, and fostering agencies. Her private clients have ranged from medical professionals, high net worth individuals, to highly vulnerable individuals with no resources or employment, and children within the care system.
