SECTOR: Public

We are proud to represent several public sector bodies, including one of the largest NHS trusts in the country (Health hyperlink), as well as Northumbria Police, and several entities within the education sector. We also have a great working relationship with a number of local authorities, thanks in part to our work within the education sector. As a result, we are familiar with the preparation, negotiation and completion of the many agreements to which these organisations are party.

Due to the broad spectrum of arrangements on which we are asked to advise, cross-departmental input is often required. Fortunately, we are able to offer expert employment and litigation advice, in addition to our property and contract-based services. Our employment team is headed by Robert Gibson and Sally Lomas Fletcher, who have acted for a wide variety of public sector organisations over a number of years. Additionally, we have a number of solicitors with expert knowledge in our property and commercial teams, such as Naren Deen, Chris Anderson and Matthew Smith, and in our litigation team, such as Kevin Anderson and Katie Smurthwaite.

However we also recognize that, while advice in relation to different areas of law may be required in respect of arrangements to which you are a party, you will view those arrangements as a single business transaction.  In this regard, you will benefit from the firms size and joined-up approach, whereby each department communicates and works seamlessly with each other with a view to providing you with the end result you want to achieve. Additionally, we can also offer bespoke fee structures to public sector bodies. We are aware that, now more than ever, it is important for you to manage costs as best you can, and we can offer excellent value for money.

We can advise on the following arrangements, among others:

  • Service level agreements;
  • Agreements relating to the sale and supply of goods and services;
  • Agreements relating to property;
  • Agreements relating to employment; and
  • Agreements relating to construction and development.
  • Robert Gibson
  • Sally Lomas Fletcher
  • James McEwen
  • Angela Carver
  • Naren Deen
  • Barbara Sadler
